ORIGINOL BIO

Oree Originol was born in Los Angeles on Spetember 11th in the year of 1984. Growing up North East of Downtown LA, he lived in the neighborhood of Atwater Village. The environment was surrounded with gang violence and drug abuse was always present in the streets. Young Oree found his place in the mix and developed his sense of street smarts. As a youngster he would always hang out at the park but made time to focus on his art which he always had a natural skill with since childhood. It was not until later in life where he began to center most of his time and attention on his art practice.

In the year of 2008 he began working at Imix Bookstore in the neighborhood of Eagle Rock where he met Bay Area based members of the Trust Your Struggle Collective who where on a nationwide Trsut Your Hustle mural tour. A year later he decided to take a roll of the dice and move up north to The Bay in search of establishing himself in a new place where he could develop as an artist. His association with Pueblo Nuevo Gallery gave him the opportunity to meet other local artists and entrepreneurs who would inspire him and play a role in his work towards a successful artist.

In mid 2010 he decided to change up style and took on a more abstract approach. In a colorful display, an arrangement of different shapes come together to form transcendental figures. The chaotic ensemble bound in an orderly structure reflect a balance between two extremes.

On Feburary 11, 2012 Oree Originol will exhibit his first solo effort, ORIGIN.

Ofrendas : From The Bay to Mumbai

Welcome back my people. I have been real busy these days making sure I provide nothing but fresh art for all ya and I am glad to say that last nights art show in downtown Oakland was a success. Ofrendas: From The Bay to Mumbai was off the hook, drawing in lots of Bay Area heads attending the Art Murmur and also those from the Oakland Occupation.

This past week I began working on a Day of the Dead series in honor of life and death. The constant theme  in my work usually focuses on balance and I know that this naturally fits in with the laws that all life (and death), at least here on earth, is bound by. In this new work, I intend to depict the relationship between forces that we coexist with. We humans exist because of the attraction and also the opposition of all natural forces that surround us.  This recent artwork pays attention to this framework of life.

The SMSHBX Gallery provided the space for the group show that included a number of friends. Last night was a reminder on how beautiful the people of Oakland are. Big shout out Franklin Cartagena, Keena Roman, Anyka Barber and Scot LaRockwell for holding down the support to of made it all happen. Also all my beautiful people to came though to support. ALL LOVE!!! THANK YOU.

I built wood panels of 24'/ 24'. Painted with acrylic and outlined with deco marker. Life & Death and Death & Life.

Keep doin what you LOVE

Life is a wonderful journey! It takes hard work but this is who I want to be and this is what I want to do. Never rely on someone else to make your life any better. Everything youll ever need is already in you.

Ive been keeping myself busy as usual. Coming off of a couple of months where I was going to LA every other week, I now find myself back in the bay, poised and ready to begin puttin in serious work. Up next will be the second installment of an event I participated in last year, Sembramos 2: An evening of Art and Community, put on by family and friends, By Any Dreams Necessary (www.anydreams.org). I am looking forward to this great event.

I am still working on the series of work for my first solo show. The work is steady and coming along. Between pieces for the show, I work on smaller ones which may or may not be included but here is one of them. One love!

LA VS WAR II - Art for peace in the hope era

This is artwork I exhibited at the LA VS WAR II. In this work I tell about the daily war fought in the streets of LA. Weve experienced LAPD abuse their positions along with the government that supports them. This system invades our neighborhoods and homes to seek and destroy, all in the name of a new world order. This is true because it evident all around the world.

The message in this painting is that despite the terrorism we face at the hands of these people, always keep yourself focused on maintaining your sense of self and your sense of reality. Just because you grew up in a certain part of the city, does not mean that you have to fall in line with what THEY expect of you. Always reach for the stars, beyond the block.

I had a great time at the show and was blessed to meet so many creative people. Im bringing back great lessons and inspiration.
